The Microplane Butter Blade is smartly engineered with a uniquely designed and shaped blade that makes using butter blissfully easy. The topside of the Butter Blade cleanly slices pats of butter and easily cuts through paper wrapping with printed measurements for accurate cooking and baking. The bottom side of the Butter Blade features three rows of tiny holes that when pulled across a stick of butter, create soft strands that warm up rapidly to flawlessly spread on soft bread, toast, muffins, scones, corn on the cob, and more. Didn't perform as well as I've come to expect from microplane products. The blade is thin and unable to transfer power through from the handle making it hard to pull through butter. These knives are designed to be used on hard cold butter (because on soft butter you just need a regular knife...) but it didn't go through the holes as pictured, rather just skimmed the top like a regular knife. The curler is a bit more effective but butter curls won't do much for trying to spread cold butter on bread.

Is well made and was easy to cut the butter.

The blade did not perform well with the small holes as I had hoped. I find a regular butter knife slid across the top of cold butter does just as well.

after several shaving a few pieces the butter cakes on blade making it difficult to have nice clean shaved butter. Have to use finger to remove shaved butter from device. Messy. Butter doesn’t curl either. The other option for the many holes doesn’t work well either. used on refrigerated butter.
