It also has a nonslip handle and its rubber base secures the unit in place on a countertop.

The slide-out catch plate collects shredded contents so users can gauge their volume with the integrated measuring feature (which measures in ml & cups).

Not Dishwasher Safe

I loved this box grater it did a fabulous job but it is not dishwasher safe. It is too big to stand up on the top rack and doesn't get clean if you lay it on its side. So we proceeded to place it on the bottom rack and eventually the plastic all cracked and broke apart. I can only assume it was from being close to the heating element during the drying cycle. I just wish there was an all metal version

Handle Comes Off

Add me to the customers complaining about their handles coming off. I may have to stop using this box grater due to the chance of injury.

Handle broke

Similar to others, the handle of my box grater broke off and went flying. Luckily, I did not grate any fingers in the process. A flawed design for sure.

Love the grater but….

I experienced the same problem with my box grater as other reviewers - the plastic handle broke off while I was grating Parmesan cheese and unfortunately grated several fingers in the process. If this was a one- piece all-metal box grater, it would be sturdier and completely dishwasher safe -

Worked well until...

This grater, bought from Sur la Table, has been a phenomenal product and a joy to use...right up until the handle snapped off during use last night. If the handle was connected by tougher (metal) connections, it would be perfect.
