I wish the grater were longer - it would be more efficient to use, less back and forth on the grater. Especially since this is for larger veggies like cabbage, it's really barely long enough compared to a carrot. Longer length would also fit over larger bowls more easily. The plastic cover/protector snaps on and off and is pretty flimsy, the little pieces cracked the first time taking it off. This grates flatter and wider. I was replacing a different grater that produced a more square shred, not as flat that seemed to work better for a wider variety of veggies. I used the grater on zucchini, and the shreds are very delicate because they are so thin. May not be an issue depending on the use, but it would be nice if there were images of the grated results on the website, or a comparative description.
This works great for cheese and much easer to clean than the food processor.

Purchased 3 graters from this series, all yellow color. The ultra coarse grater color did not match the other two graters. The ultra coarse grater should have been called orange, not yellow. I purchased it as a set as a gift. Microplane should put a disclaimer on their website that the yellow colors will not match so consumers can select another color that does match across all graters in the series. Or they should implement better color/pigment matching quality control at their handle manufacturer in China or whatever foreign country their handles are made in.
