The plastic trim around the blade cracked after three months of home kitchen use. Because the metal for the blades are thin, it could no longer function properly.

We have the traditional grater, and a skinny hand held one. This one is awesome for grating cheese onto your soup, spaghetti, baked potato, you name it. I like this one a lot better than the skinny one. It feels good in my hand and works great.

Enjoy using these Microplane graters, but after a year of use and hand washing it. The plastic case broke and very disappointing that it lasted less than 8 years as my others are encased in METAL not PLASTIC. Very poor design and execution by this company. Now shopping for a replacement!

I bought this specifically to grate ginger... My other graters make a stringy mess with ginger. This one does an amazing job - grinds the tough fibers in the ginger - no waste. It's sturdy, easy to use, easy to clean.

I've used other brands of microplanes but they never satisfied what I needed. I cook carbonara often and I'm also stuck using a grater instead of a microplane because they did not get the cheese fine enough. Not the case with this one, should have bought the original years ago.
